Stop Defending Your Thesis
Start Demonstrating Your Value
After 50+ rejections, I discovered the real reason PhDs struggle in industry interviews.
It wasn’t my technical skills.
It wasn’t my publications.
It was how I showed up in every single conversation.
I was interviewing like I was defending my thesis.
Every answer was a mini-lecture:
→ Too much detail
→ Too much theory
→ Too much explaining the mechanism
0 focus on what THEY needed.
After analysing my failed interviews, it clicked:
👉🏻 PhDs talk about what they know.
👉🏻 Industry wants to hear what you can DO.
The shift happened when I stopped saying:
“My research focused on respiratory diseases...”
And started saying:
“I can set up your ALI models and deliver results in 8 weeks.”
I had the SAME skills and experience.
I just used a different language.
In the next 3 interviews, I got 2 offers.
If you’re a PhD facing rejection after rejection, remember:
The real gap isn’t your competence; it’s how you translate it
Stop defending your thesis.
Start demonstrating your value.
